BenQ projector TK850 with 4K UHD resolution and an image diagonal ranging from 40 - 200". This size depends on the distance the projector is placed in relation to the projection surface. The throw ratio or projection distance ratio indicates the width of the image that the projector produces when placed at a certain distance from the screen, for example a throw ratio of 1.3:1 means that the image will be 1 meter wide when the projector is placed at a distance of 1.3 meters from the screen.
Projection technology is how the light from the projector's lamp is converted into an image to be projected through the lens onto a surface. This particular one is DLP (DMD) technology and its lamp is simple, which has higher brightness and shorter life than LED lamps.
This particular technology takes its name from the initials of the words Digital Light Processing, it is the most widespread projection technology and there are projectors with one or three DLP chips. The image is created when light from the projector's lamp passes through a rotating colored disc and is reflected by a chip that has hundreds of thousands of tiny mirrors, each corresponding to one pixel. This chip is called a DMD (Digital Micromirror Device). They are suitable for areas with sufficient lighting, such as classrooms or conference rooms, and have good color rendering.
Brightness and contrast, or otherwise the contrast ratio, are two very important characteristics that are taken into account, in combination with the projection distance and the maximum diagonal you want to achieve, for choosing a projector. This one has a brightness of 3000 ANSI Lumens and a contrast ratio of 30000:1.
Contrast indicates the difference between the darkest and brightest part of an image and is an indicator of image quality. The image projected by a projector with a low contrast ratio looks washed out and flat. Conversely, with a high contrast ratio, it looks more realistic and with more "depth".
Brightness indicates how much light the projector can deliver on a certain size of surface. The general rule suggests that "brighter" projectors are preferred in rooms with enough light or several light sources, while "darker" projectors are preferred in dark rooms.
